I have seen/heard some people ask questions about me and my artwork, so I have decided to do a FAQ! I hope I can answer everyone's questions. If I haven't answered anything here, please feel free to ask and I'll update it!

About myself:

How old are you? Where are you from? What do you like, etc?
My name is Sam but my art/screen name is drivingblind. I am from Ann Arbor, MI and I have lived there my whole life. I am 21 years old, 5'1 and 93lbs. I really enjoy drawing, playing video games and reading comics. My favorite things ever are Jackass, Sailor Moon, Mortal Kombat and animals, specifically pigs. My favorite band is The Bloodhound Gang, my favorite video game is Mortal Kombat (2011), my favorite Mortal Kombat character to fight with and in general is Noob Saibot, my favorite film is Haggard (although I have many, many more) and my favorite color is purple!

What do you do for a living?
I am currently unemployed or in school, but I am a writer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat U.K. fansite www.kombattabloid.com launching next month! Look out for me!

Art questions:

How long have you been drawing for?
I have been drawing since I could pick up a pencil. I still have my first drawing about how to play Sonic!  


Where did the name drivingblind come from?
It's from a CKY song called "Disengage the Simulator" I never liked signing my name on my artwork and one day I was listening to that song and the line "I'm driving blind" just struck me. So I wrote it as my signature and the rest is history! I've been using it since 2003.

Why do you draw shoulders weird and what are those dots they always have on their shoulders?
I have used to draw shoulders in a very straight fashion with no depth at all. I noticed while looking in a mirror that your shoulder have a circular shape at the top then it goes straight with your arm. I then started to draw it in a more campy fashion. I love accentuating body parts, especially shoulders, ankles, wrists and knees.
As for the dots, it started in a drawing I saw by the very talented she had this older piece where she put white gel pen dots on the characters shoulders. I thought it was cute and did it a couple times. And now, just like the shoulders, I cannot stop doing it! I guess you can say they are moles or freckles. That is what most people think they are If I don't draw them on the character, it just feels naked and boring.

Why does everyone you draw who wears tennis shoes/flats have platforms?
Funny story, actually! Back when I was 12 years old I had these BAD ASS pair of shoes. They where black with red and orange flames on the side. They were tennis shoes, but they had big platformed soles. I wore them with everything and I loved them so much! I also  have a picture of Bam Margera and Ryan Dunn in a skateboard parts ad where they had platformed tennis shoes too. I just love the uniqueness of the look!

Why are you so bad at hands/feet/noses?
Honestly I am still learning to draw those. I am working on the proper finger length, shape and joints. As for bare feet, I cannot draw them for anything. I am slowly working on that too. I need to learn to draw hands holding things and people standing forwards and getting the feet positioned properly. As for noses, I am working on doing different shapes as well as facial shapes. Please be patient!

What is your favorite thing to draw?
Faces, especially eyes and lips, Mortal Kombat characters, emotions and females. I am getting into drawing men a lot lately, but I just love drawing woman. I can't help it!

Why did you stop tattooing?
I just couldn't do it. I trained for half a year and I just couldn't do it. I couldn't concentrate and I had no self esteem or drive. Tattooing is so hard and you need to dedicate all of your time and energy to it. I was only 17 and it was just impossible. There are many other reasons, but I just couldn't do it. I've never regretted it though.

Do you do art trades/requests?
I will only do art trades on very rare occasions. I take requests for ideas for what to draw next i.e. characters, but I will not draw something for someone for free.

Do you do commissions?
I do! I don't have a bank account yet, but I have opened up a paypal. If you are interested you can note me, but I don't think my paypal will work without a bank account, so it may have to wait. We can work out prices and what you would like. I will do traditional or digital. I can guarantee that I will charge fair, cheap prices!

What are your future art plans?
I would like to pursue a career in game design, game art and rendering. My ultimate dream would be to work for NetherRealm studios. Fingers crossed!
